What is Watching?
If you were never ill another day in your life, what would it mean to you?
If you were handed the key to a life free of pain or discomfort, whether that is physical, mental or both, would you take it?
Spoiler alert, there isn’t a key or a quick fix, and it certainly isn’t coming from me, but as with everything in life, there is a spectrum. I have always thought about this in terms of ‘comforting’ the body, the good old words ‘taking care of yourself’. If you don’t nobody will, and it is also really important to model this to new generations.
If you are struggling with a sore knee, is the best solution to take a painkiller and carry on. Yes, this means you can work, but what you might also be doing is prolonging the pain, or worse still, causing further damage. This is not to say don’t take painkillers, or medication, but we need to change the programming to see that we are in control of our health, if we choose to be.
Pain nearly always comes from a level of inflammation, and is the body’s way of isolating movement. Think of it in basic terms, if you put a cushion under your knee the movement is restricted, and you wont be overusing it. Stands to reason it won’t get worse.
This is all fine if there is an injury, but if you are experiencing inflammation all over your body, you need to stand back and have a good look at a big red flag. Is it coming from the gut? Is there a detoxification issue? Are you inadvertantly putting something into your body which it doesn’t like (this is where histamines come in) or maybe there is something which has built up over time and the body has reached its final limit.
The ‘cocktail’ of things surrounding us makes it pretty difficult to exist as human beings. We may fill our homes with strong scented cleaning products and be ok, we may live in an area which has moderate air pollution, we may eat average quality food and not suffer too much, but add in a blip of work stress, and all of a sudden your system topples.
This is what we aim to look at, and in doing so, empowering our readers to challenge what is around them, and make choices which may enhance their quality of life.
